There is plenty of uncertainty around Celtic at the moment. The managerial hot seat has been left vacant following Ange Postecoglou’s move to Tottenham Hotspur. The club do seem to be on the verge of pulling off a major coup though, by bringing back Brendan Rodgers for a second stint at Parkhead.
At the same time, they need to strengthen the squad as well. Not only do they have all three trophies to defend but a guaranteed spot in the UEFA Champions League group stage as well.
There have been great signs in that regard though. Rumours have suggested that Rodgers has been promised a huge transfer budget for the summer, while they also seem to be on the verge of signing a player who has earned comparisons with Martin Odegaard.
Odin Thiago Holm is one of the biggest talents in Norwegian football right now. And reports coming out of there have suggested that Celtic have agreed a transfer fee with Valerenga for the midfielder. Now, it is all down to medicals and agreeing personal terms with the youngster.
Celtic set to sign ‘New Odegaard’ this summer
Holm has certainly been earning rave reviews in his homeland. Many believe that on top form, he is as good as Odegaard.
Of course, at 20 years of age, it is important to show patience with him as well. There will be moments when he struggles and inconsistency is also something that must be expected. One has to remember that it is only in the last few years that Odegaard has come into his own as well.
If Holm does manage to reach his sky high potential then Celtic might be about to pull off one of the signings of the summer. Of course, a deal is not over the line yet and let’s hope it will be soon.
