It is pretty much an open secret at this point of time that Brendan Rodgers is close to making a return to Celtic Park this summer. Of course, fans must be cautious when it comes to taking anything for granted, when you consider how the chase for Eddie Howe turned out just a couple of years back.

If things go to plan though, Rodgers will be the man in the Parkhead hot seat come next season. Of course, there are other things that need to put in place as well.

One of them is the future of John Kennedy. There have been suggestions that Ange Postecoglou wants the long-time Celtic coach to join him at Tottenham Hotspur and that he is interested in the prospect of a move to London as well. But the Hoops are not believed to be keen to let the 39-year-old.

As reported by The Mail+, Celtic want to resolve the situation of Kennedy before confirming the return of Rodgers as manager. The Northern Irishman has made clear to the coach that he wants him to remain at Parkhead.

In an interesting game of footballing dominoes, it is rumoured that Chris Davies is close to joining Tottenham Hotspur. Of course, he has been assistant to Rodgers at clubs like Swansea City, Liverpool, Celtic and Leicester City.

If Davies does end up at Tottenham Hotspur, then that could open the door for Kennedy to remain at Parkhead. It remains to be seen how things play out.

Kennedy has been a key part of Celtic’s coaching team for years now, and even worked with Rodgers during his first stint at Parkhead. He was even caretaker manager for a good while, when Neil Lennon left in the middle of the 2020/21 campaign. And it is quite clear that the club rate him very highly.
