Ange Postecoglou hands blow to Brendan Rodgers before Celtic return
It is safe to say that Ange Postecoglou’s move to Tottenham Hotspur, mere days after guiding Celtic to a domestic treble, hurt his reputation and standing in the eyes of a lot of supporters. This is football though and 57 years of age, nobody can blame the Australian for a taking an opportunity that might never come knocking on his door again.
Celtic now have the task of replacing Postecoglou in the hot seat. And it looks like they are going after the biggest name possible.
All signs seem to point towards Brendan Rodgers being named the next manager of the club over the coming days. Of course, the Northern Irishman has already had a very successful stint at Celtic, winning seven trophies, every domestic one available to him.
Rodgers has been handed a blow before a return to Celtic is even over the line though. It looks like Tottenham Hotspur have their eyes on one of the coaches he has been associated with throughout his career.

As reported by The Telegraph, Postecoglou has been told he can bring in two coaches from outside. Tottenham Hotspur have identified Chris Davies as one candidate.
Of course, Davies’ coaching career has been linked with that of Rodgers over the years. He was an assistant to him at Leicester City, Celtic, Liverpool and Swansea City.
Recently, he has been linked with the managerial job at Swansea City himself. Thus, it remains to be seen what the future holds for Davies. Most people would have expected him to join Rodgers at Celtic once again, but it looks like that might not turn out to be the case.
Rodgers is rumoured to be finalising his backroom team for his Parkhead return right now. One can only wait and see what that will look like.
