Celtic tipped to sign Premier League winner for free
Unless something unexpected happens, it looks like Brendan Rodgers will be the man in the Parkhead dug out come next season. The Northern Irishman seems to be on the verge of making a return to Celtic. He is without a club right now, having been shown the exit door by Leicester City last season. On the other hand, the Hoops are in search of a manager as well following Ange Postecoglou’s exit in order to join Tottenham Hotspur.
There is zero doubt about Rodgers’ ability to deliver for Celtic. He has already won seven trophies for the club.
But he did leave in the middle of the campaign in early 2019 in order to join Leicester City. That left a bitter taste in the mouths of a lot of fans, and he will have to win them back if he does complete a return to Parkhead.
Rodgers would be expected to bring in some of his trusted players in the summer, with Celtic guaranteed a spot in the Champions League group stage next season. And it looks like the Hoops could have the chance to sign a Premier League winner for free.
Celtic tipped to sign Premier League winner for free
Celtic have been tipped to sign Daniel Amartey, with his contract running out this summer. A report from Express goes on to read:
"Rodgers was criticised by Foxes supporters for continuously picking Amartey during their defensive crisis even though the Ghana international simply wasn’t up to scratch. Now he’s available on a free transfer and is yet to sign a contract elsewhere despite negotiations and talks with Besiktas.Amartey has won both the Premier League and FA Cup at Leicester and therefore has experience of winning trophies, something that would be a valuable asset in the Celtic dressing room.He can also play at right-back, centre-back and even midfield which was his preferred position prior to a serious ankle injury he sustained back in October 2018."
Amartey is someone that Rodgers will know well from their time together with the Foxes. And with him being available as a free agent, it would not be a surprise if a move is made to bring him to Parkhead.
Amartey has faced his fair share of critics in recent times. But the fact of the matter is that he has almost 50 caps for the Ghana national team. And according to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 145 appearances for Leicester City.
