Celtic were expected to have a tough time replacing Ange Postecoglou, with the Australian winning five trophies at Parkhead in two seasons before his move to Tottenham Hotspur, merely days after guiding the Hoops to a domestic treble. Yet, it looks like the club are close to pulling off another blockbuster managerial appointment.
Brendan Rodgers seems to be on the verge of making a return as the manager of Celtic. He turned the club into a treble-winning machine last time around. So, it is safe to say that expectations will be very high, if the Northern Irishman does return for a second stint in the Parkhead hot seat.
One of the major complaints that a lot of people had during his last time at Celtic Park was that he was not given proper backing, and there was a ceiling. It looks like the club might be trying to rectify that on this occasion.
As reported by Football Insider, Rodgers is set to be handed a big budget for the summer transfer window if the final details of his appointment can be agreed.
Celtic make decision with Rodgers return close
Celtic’s record in the transfer market, during Rodgers’ first run at the club was somewhat hit and miss. On one hand, they did sign some incredible players. But on the other hand, there were moves that did not work out at all.
It does feel like their scouting has improved a lot over the last couple of years, during the time of Postecoglou at the club. And that could end up proving beneficial to Rodgers as well, if he does indeed return for a second spell in Glasgow.
All signs do point towards Rodgers being in the Celtic Park hot seat come next season. At this point, he might be the best man for the job.
