Following Ange Postecoglou’s departure this summer in order to join Tottenham Hotspur, mere days after winning a treble with Celtic, the Hoops found themselves in a difficult situation. The Australian won five trophies in two seasons with the club, under difficult circumstances. Naturally, it is going to be very difficult to replace him.

It looks like Celtic are about to pull an ace out of their sleeve though by bringing back Brendan Rodgers for a second stint at the club. The Northern Irishman knows all about what it takes to succeed at Parkhead.

He won seven trophies during his time at the club, every one that was available to him. And while a return might not be popular, nobody can deny Rodgers’ quality and he might very well be the best option available right now.

Of course, other clubs are believed to be interested in Rodgers as well. One of them is Leeds United, who recently dropped down to the Championship and will be hoping to go straight back to the Premier League. But it looks like the Northern Irishman has made a clear decision about a potential move to Elland Road.

As reported by The Athletic, Rodgers appears to be out of the process at Leeds United after indicating firmly that he does not intend to drop into the Championship.

Thus, it looks like Celtic might have a free run at Rodgers and a return to Parkhead might only be a matter of time. All signs seem to be pointing in that direction at this point of time.

Bringing back Rodgers might not go down well with everyone. But at this stage, it might be the best move for Celtic and their best chance at replacing the presence of Postecoglou in the hot seat.
