Celtic are searching for their next manager at the moment, after Ange Postecoglou left the club in order to join Tottenham Hotspur. It will be difficult to replace the Australian and his impact at Parkhead. But it looks like the club could be about to pull off a major coup by bringing back Brendan Rodgers for a second stint.
While the managerial search is extremely important, the club need to strengthen their squad as well. And it looks like they are taking positive steps in that direction.
As reported by TV 2, Valerenga and Celtic have effectively agreed on a transfer for Odin Thiago Holm. It is believed to be a total package of around £2.6 million. The Norwegian club are also set to have a 15 per cent sell-on clause as well.
Of course, a deal is not completely over the line yet, with medicals and personal terms with Holm still to be ironed out. But all signs do seem to point towards a deal being reached.
Celtic agree transfer fee for their first summer signing
Holm is one of the most highly rated talents in Norwegian football right now. He has represented Norway at multiple youth levels and is a nailed on starter for a top flight club like Valerenga at just 20 years of age as well.
At the same time, Holm has also earned comparisons with Martin Odegaard over the years. Thus, it is not hard to see why Celtic might be interested in signing the Norwegian midfielder and it seems to be a step in a positive direction.
Now, it remains to be seen if Celtic can get a deal over the line. With another Champions League group stage campaign coming up, all three domestic titles to defend and a new manager arriving, fans should expect to see plenty of signings this summer.
