Celtic have a huge task on their hands this summer. And that is replacing Ange Postecoglou in the Parkhead hot seat. The Australian did a brilliant job during his two seasons at the club, winning five trophies. Thus, the Hoops have been left with some big boots to fill, as he departed to take the Tottenham Hotspur job.

Of course, there are not many managers available who could have done as good a job as Postecoglou. Thus, it will be a tough task replacing him.

The club have linked with a long list of names in recent times. But out of all of them, Brendan Rodgers might be the best choice, if the club can bring him back for a second spell.

It would not be a popular choice, considering the manner in which he left Celtic the first time around, joining Leicester City in the middle of the season. But nobody can deny his achievements at Parkhead. Interestingly, they already seem to be taking steps surrounding a potential Parkhead return for the Northern Irish manager.

Celtic take major step in bringing back Rodgers

As reported by The Mail+, Celtic have held face-to-face talks with Rodgers over a sensational return to Parkhead as manager of the club. Michael Nicholson and Chris McKay flew to Mallorca on Saturday, by a private jet. Further discussions are expected to take place.

Rodgers is the closest thing to a guaranteed success that Celtic could find. The Northern Irishman won seven trophies during his first stint at Parkhead, every domestic one available to him. And it was during this time that the Hoops were transformed into the treble-winning machine that we know today.

So, while there might be reservations on the part of many fans, regarding a potential Rodgers return. It might be the best thing for the club at this point.
