Graham Potter makes Celtic decision amid rumours
Celtic currently find themselves in the middle of a very important search for their next manager. Ange Postecoglou left the club after winning five trophies in two seasons and they need to bring in someone good enough to continue building on that success. Otherwise, it will not take long for things to end up like the 2020/21 campaign.
Thus, it is important to make the right appointment. A long list of managers have been linked with the Parkhead job. Some potential candidates have left the fans underwhelmed. But one name that appears to have captured the imagination of the support is that of Graham Potter.
Despite his terrible run at Chelsea, which led to the club’s worst campaign of this century, Potter remains a popular figure. Before his spell at Stamford Bridge, he did a very good job in building up Brighton & Hove Albion into a solid upper midtable side and was considered by many as the best English manager in the game.
Thus, many fans have felt that Potter would be the right fit for Celtic. But unfortunately, it looks like a move to Parkhead is not on the cards for the former Chelsea manager.
Potter makes Celtic decision amid rumours linking him with Parkhead move
As reported by the Daily Record, Potter, who was approached by Celtic, feels that his next club will be in the Premier League.
Now, someone like Potter would have been an interesting appointment. He is clearly highly rated. There are some doubts about the Englishman as well though.
Of course, his spell at Chelsea raises major doubts about his ability to deliver at a top club, where there is the pressure to win almost every game. On the other hand, Brighton & Hove Albion seem to have taken a step forward since he was replaced by Roberto De Zerbi.
