Conflicting David Moyes rumours emerge amid Celtic links
By StevieMac
As always there are plenty of rumours about who will be the next Celtic manager after Ange Postecoglou’s move to Tottenham Hotspur, days after guiding the club to a treble. Amongst all those, there are some confusing and conflicting ones about David Moyes, who has been linked with the Parkhead job.
Moyes wouldn’t be a fan’s choice or favourite, but he has solid experience and now has a European trophy on his CV as well after West Ham United’s midweek victory over Fiorentina in the UEFA Europa Conference League final. That triumph does come after a disappointing domestic season though, when he was close to being shown the exit door multiple times.
With a Celtic background to his playing career, he has been linked with the Parkhead job in the past as well. So, you can see why he keeps getting mentioned as a potential candidate to replace Postecoglou.
Any question marks over his future at West Ham United after a poor league season were probably answered by the European triumph, making his position there more secure. He is believed to have met with owner David Sullivan for discussions over his future.
Conflicting Moyes rumours emerge amid Celtic links
As reported by Football Insider, Celtic are planning a move for Moyes as they have made him their number one managerial target. On the other hand, as reported by Sky Sports, he is expected to stay on as West Ham United manager following talks with Sullivan.
In our opinion, it is much more likely that Moyes will remain with West Ham United, after winning their first major trophy in over four decades. That may well come as a relief to some Celtic fans.
It leaves the door open for a more modern style of manager to be appointed by the club. Manchester City coach, Enzo Maresca, is someone who has been heavily linked with the job lately.
