Celtic need to find a successor to Ange Postecoglou as soon as possible. The Australian left days after guiding the Hoops to a domestic treble in order to join Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. He did a remarkable job during his two seasons in charge of the club, winning five trophies. Thus, he leaves behind some huge shoes to fill.
A long list of managers have been linked with the Celtic job over the past few days. The fans have been happy with some of them, while others have only raised concern.
One of the biggest complaints that Celtic fans have had about the club’s managerial search is that they are being linked with prospects, and not managers who are proven successes. And it looks like they are keeping an eye on another similar profile.
As reported by Football Scotland, Rik de Mil is on Celtic’s radar as their search for a new manager continues. He is considered a serious prospect with a top future in coaching.
Celtic interested in another inexperienced manager
Just like Enzo Maresca, who has also been linked with the Celtic job, De Mil lacks in experience. As a result, one has to question whether he would be able to cope with the pressure that comes with the Parkhead hot seat.
Someone proven like Brendan Rodgers would be a much safer choice. It would not be a popular pick amongst a section of the fans, considering the manner in which he left Celtic the first time around, but bringing back the Northern Irishman might be the best step for the Hoops.
Of course, there are a number of other managers who could be a good fit at Parkhead as well. But some of the names being linked with the job have left the supporters underwhelmed without doubt.
