Kyogo drops hint about future amid Celtic exit rumours
Kyogo Furuhashi has proven himself as a superb player since arriving in the summer of 2021 from Vissel Kobe. In many ways, he was the one who marked the Ange Postecoglou Era at Celtic, scoring in all three of their cup final wins and also topping the Premiership scoring charts this time around.
With Postecoglou leaving for Tottenham Hotspur, questions have been raised about the future of Kyogo. There have even been rumours that the Australian could try to sign the Japanese forward and take him to London. Other Premier League clubs have been linked as well.
Of course, Celtic must do everything that they can to keep Kyogo at Parkhead. But as the Postecoglou exit saga showed, nothing is certain in football.
Kyogo does seem to be looking forward to next season at Celtic though. As reported by the Daily Record, he said in a clip that aired on Fuji TV:
"“I was happy to win the treble this season, but it didn’t go well in the CL, so next season I want to work together with everyone to move in the right direction and try to win as many as possible.”"
Kyogo drops hint about future amid Celtic exit rumours
Kyogo is vital to this Celtic team and they cannot afford to let him leave in the summer. But at the same time, if a huge offer did come in for him, that would put his future in doubt.
He has been putting up some extraordinary numbers for the Hoops. According to stats from Transfermarkt, Kyogo scored 34 goals and provided 5 assists in 50 appearances in the 2022/23 campaign.
At the end of the day though, Kyogo is 28 years of age and does not have a lot of time on his hands, if he wants to get a big move to the Premier League or one of the other top five leagues in Europe. So let’s see how things play out in the summer. Hopefully, the Japanese forward will be a Celtic player come next season. If he is not, the club will need to replace him with a top class striker.
