Celtic are heading into a very important summer. The club’s biggest need right now is finding a suitable replacement for Ange Postecoglou, who left after two very important seasons at Parkhead to join Tottenham Hotspur. A number of names have cropped up in the media over the last few days and it remains to be seen who the Hoops end up going for.

After a new manager is in place, Celtic will need to start strengthening the squad. While incomings will be important, so will be outgoings.

One player who has been largely forgotten by the fans over the course of the past season is Ismaila Soro. The Ivory Coast midfielder spent the campaign out on loan at Portuguese club, FC Arouca.

Soro is not expected to have much of a future at Celtic, unless the new manager decides that he has a role to play in his plans. The most likely route for him will be to leave in the summer. And it looks like there is no lack of interest in the midfielder.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Soro is at the centre of a transfer race with Bordeaux and Panathinaikos.

Panathinaikos are one of the biggest clubs in Greece. On the other hand, Bordeaux are a big club in France but have fallen upon tough times lately, and find themselves in Ligue 2.

Let’s see what the future holds for Soro. He had put in some bright performances in the 2020/21 campaign, when most of the team were struggling, but it was not long before his form faded away. The Ivory coast midfielder has never been able to re-establish himself at Parkhead. At 25 years of age, he has a long career ahead of him though and a change of scenery would do him well.
