Most of the rumours regarding Celtic have been dominated by managers over the past few days, after Ange Postecoglou completed a move to Tottenham Hotspur. The Australian did win five trophies in just two seasons with the Hoops though, meaning that he leaves behind big shoes to fill in the managerial hot seat.
While it is extremely important for Celtic to get the next appointment right, they cannot lose their focus on strengthening their squad as well. They have another Champions League group stage campaign coming up while some players could be on their way out as well.
Liel Abada is someone who has been heavily linked with a move away from Celtic. And curiously, it looks like the club have their eyes on a young right winger.
As reported by Fussball Transfers, Celtic are one of the clubs interested in Kwadwo Opoku. Other teams who hold an interest in the Los Angeles FC player are Rangers, Bordeaux, OGC Nice and VfB Stuttgart. LAFC appear to be looking for a transfer fee between €3.7 million to €4.8 million.
Celtic looking to sign €4.8 million winger from MLS
It is great to see that Celtic are continuing to look far and wide for potential signings, even though Postecoglou might have left the club. Now, it remains to be seen if they make a move for Opoku or not.
If Abada does indeed end up leaving the club in the summer, with plenty of teams believed to be interested, then Opoku could prove to be a like for like replacement for him. Of course, that is easier said than done.
There is plenty of interest in Opoku. On the other hand, a €4.8 million transfer fee would be significant for a 21-year-old winger who has not played in Europe yet. So, let’s see what the future holds.
