Manchester City hand Enzo Maresca boost to Celtic
Celtic continue to search for their next manager, following Ange Postecoglou’s decision to leave the club in order to join Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. It was an understandable move on the part of the 57-year-old and all we can do is thank him for the job that he did at Parkhead, delivering five trophies in two seasons. He exceeded all expectations and left the Hoops in a much better place than where he found them.
At the same time though, it is time to move on. The focus has to be on finding a manager who can fill Postecoglou’s boots.
The Postecoglou appointment was out of the box and one not many were pleased by. And now, it looks like the club might be targeting a similar manager.
Enzo Maresca is currently a coach at Manchester City and he is extremely highly rated. And recent rumours have suggested that Celtic are interested in the Italian being the next manager of the club. In that aim, they might have been handed a boost.
Manchester City hand Maresca boost to Celtic
As reported by Football Scotland, Manchester City will not stand in Maresca’s way if he wants to talk to Celtic. The Italian is believed to be high on the Hoops’ radar in their search for a new manager.
Maresca is a good coach without doubt. But he has not proven himself as a manager yet. On the contrary, his only run in the managerial hot seat till now has been a complete failure.
He did not even last six months at Parma and struggled badly in the Italian second division. Thus, Celtic should be wary before making a move for Maresca. At the same time though, it is all about the right fit, and the Parkhead job could potentially fit him like a glove.
