While the debate and rumours fly around over who will be next in the Celtic managerial hot seat after Ange Postecoglou’s exit to Tottenham Hotspur, there is further news regarding the club’s backroom staff. And it looks like some of the speculation might not be accurate after all.

When Postecoglou arrived at Celtic, he came on his own. Unusually for new managers, he didn’t seem insistent on surrounding himself with a familiar coaching team. Instead he worked with those who were already there and knew the club well, like John Kennedy, Gavin Strachan and Stevie Woods.

Despite that, there have been rumours in the last few days that some of his backroom staff at Celtic, Kennedy in particular, were looking to join the Australian at Tottenham Hotspur. But now, there is an update on the situation.

As reported by Inside Futbol, Postecoglou is yet to ask anyone from his backroom staff at Celtic to join him at Tottenham Hotspur, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

Celtic rumour seems to be false after Postecoglou exit

It is believed that Postecoglou has taken advantage of the end of the football season to take a break and is now on a family holiday before starting his job at Tottenham Hotspur. And that would fit with what he said in his post-match interview after the Scottish Cup final.

While the managerial change may be a concern for players, it’s even more critical for the coaches and support staff. Even if it didn’t happen last time around, they will be well aware of the tendency of new managers to bring in their own support team with them.

Over the years, Celtic have done well to keep a portion of their coaching team together despite change in the manager’s hot seat. And let’s see if that continues to be the case moving forward.
