Celtic are looking for a manager, after it was confirmed that Ange Postecoglou will be leaving for Tottenham Hotspur this summer. The club have huge shoes to fill for sure, with the Australian delivering five trophies in two years at Parkhead. At the same time, his side played some brilliant football along the way as well.
Thus, whoever comes in next will be under some pressure for sure. At the same time though, there should be any lack of candidates, with Celtic offering the opportunity to challenge for trophies every season as well as guaranteed Champions League group stage football for the upcoming campaign.
Names like Graham Potter, David Moyes, Enzo Maresca, Brendan Rodgers and a few others have been linked with the Celtic job. But now, it looks like a former La Liga manager is interested in the post as well.
As reported by The Mail+, Andoni Iraola will also throw his hat into the ring after rejecting a new contract.
La Liga mastermind wants to become Celtic manager
Iraola established himself as a legend at Athletic Bilbao during his playing career. And he has impressed since moving into management as well.
His first job was at AEK Larnaca, for whom he won the Cypriot Super Cup. Then he joined Mirandes back in Spain. And he built up his glittering reputation with his spell at Rayo Vallecano.
Iraola guided Rayo Vallecano to La Liga from the second division in his very first season in charge of the club. After that, he got them respectable mid-table finishes in back-to-back campaigns in the Spanish top flight, while also got them into the semis of the Copa del Rey on one occasion.
Iraola showed his ability to engineer wins against the very best as well. Last season, his Rayo Vallecano side won against both Real Madrid and Barcelona. He is set to leave the club this summer though, after not renewing his contract with them.
