While not set in stone yet, it looks like Ange Postecoglou is on the verge of leaving Celtic to join Tottenham Hotspur. After delivering five trophies over two seasons, having inherited a side that had finished trophyless and 25 points behind the Rangers, the Australian can leave with his head held high and with the best wishes of most of the supporters.

Celtic will have the task of replacing him though. And whoever comes in will have some huge boots to fill.

Not only did Postecoglou deliver silverware at Celtic but did so while having his team play a fantastic brand of football, becoming a huge fan favourite in the process. Could the club have their eyes on a former manager though?

It is understandable why many Celtic fans might have reservations about bringing back Rodgers to the club. And it has got nothing to do with his abilities as a manager.

The manner of Rodgers’ Parkhead exit left a bitter taste in the mouths of many supporters. He left in the middle of the 2018/19 campaign in order to join Leicester City.

Rodgers went on to have some great success at Leicester City as well. He had them competing for Champions League spots, while also winning an FA Cup and a Community Shield. Things did not end well, but then, that was mostly a result of the club not strengthening their squad and continuing to stand still.

Rodgers will not be welcomed back to Celtic by a portion of the support. But out of the names available, he might be the best fit for the club.
