Ange Postecoglou looks almost certain to leave Celtic this summer. Many reliable journalists have suggested over the past day that a move to Tottenham Hotspur is on the verge of being completed. At the same time though, that also means that the Hoops will have to look for a new manager.
It remains to be seen who ends up in the Parkhead hot seat. They must get this appointment right. At the same time though, they must not forget the good things that Postecoglou brought to the club and go back to square one.
In Postecoglou, Celtic are set to lose a great manager for sure. But even more importantly, they will be saying goodbye to his eye for talent.
During Postecoglou’s time at Parkhead, Celtic pulled off one transfer masterstroke after another. And the scouting network was certainly expanded with players being brought in from Japan, South Korea, Argentina and more. Hopefully, the club will continue on that path rather than going back to signing Premier League flops and Championship prospects, and hoping they work out.
Celtic have bigger problem than Postecoglou leaving
Another great thing that the club did during Postecoglou’s time at Parkhead was get their signings done early. In the past, they had a reputation for dragging their heels in the transfer market and leaving things too late, often losing out on players as a result.
That definitely was not the case over the past two seasons. In fact, they often announced deals before the transfer window had even opened. Hopefully, that is a good habit that will persist.
All things considered, this is a very interesting time to be a Celtic fan. It will be a huge blow to see Postecoglou leave. But at the same time, there has to be some excitement around their next appointment as well.
