With Ange Postecoglou’s move to Tottenham Hotspur all but done, Celtic find themselves in need of a new manager. And whoever comes in will have big shoes to fill, with the Australian delivering five trophies in his two seasons in charge at Parkhead. Thus, the Hoops need to get this appointment right in order to continue their dominance in Scottish football.

A number of names have cropped up as potential targets for the club. And there will be plenty of risk involved with most of them.

One manager who might be as close to a guaranteed success as there is on the list of available names is Brendan Rodgers. The Northern Irishman had done a remarkable job since at Celtic before leaving for Leicester City.

The manner of his exit did leave a bitter taste in the mouths of a lot of fans. But the fact of the matter is that he is a superb manager, who is a proven success in Scottish football. Rodgers might not be looking at making at a return at the moment though.

Celtic handed blow amid Rodgers rumours

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Rodgers is not interested in a Celtic return at the moment. He is expected to take time away from the game before planning his next move.

Thus, it looks like a return to Parkhead for Rodgers might not be on the cards, at least for now. And that will make Celtic’s search for a new manager even more difficult than it already was.

It remains to be seen how things play out but a very important summer is ahead for the club, as they look to replace Postecoglou. Names like Graham Potter, David Moyes and Jesse Marsch have been brought up as possible candidates for the Parkhead job as well.
