Celtic might have won the domestic treble just days ago but that has been completely overshadowed by the future of Ange Postecoglou. The manager looks set to leave the club this summer and a move to Tottenham Hotspur is now believed to be on the verge of completion. Of course, that leaves the Hoops in a tough position.
Postecoglou will leave behind big boots to fill, having won five of the six domestic trophies that his team competed in. And if Celtic are to continue their dominance in Scottish football, they will need to get this appointment right.
Let’s see what the future holds. But the club have been linked with a variety of names over the past several days.
There will be pros and cons to any manager. And it is important to get the right fit, for this squad of players.
Four candidates on Celtic shortlist for next manager with Postecoglou leaving for Tottenham Hotspur
As reported by FootballTransfers, Celtic are already sounding out replacements for Postecoglou. They have made a shortlist of possible candidates. Some of the names mentioned include Graham Potter, Jesse Marsch, Brendan Rodgers and David Moyes.
Of course, out of the names mentioned, Rodgers would be the safest choice. He has already proven that he can succeed in Scottish football. In fact, it was during his time at the club that they were transformed into a treble winning machine.
That does not mean that there are no other managers who could do a great job at the club. On the contrary, someone like Potter would excite fans as well. His spell at Chelsea might have been terrible but he had a big reputation before that at Brighton & Hove Albion.
It is not hard to see the plus points of managers like Moyes and Marsch as well. Now, it remains to be seen how the search for the next boss progresses.
