Celtic fans have been left heartbroken with the news that Ange Postecoglou will be heading to Tottenham Hotspur. While nothing has been made official yet, some very reliable journalists have declared the move ‘close’. Thus, at this point of time, it is time to accept that the Australian is on his way to the Premier League.

And he should be leaving with his head held high and the blessing of the supporters. Postecoglou overdelivered on every expectation, winning five trophies in two seasons at Celtic. That is remarkable when you consider the position the club were in when he arrived in the summer of 2021.

Now though, it looks like it is time to move on. It is not a cycle that Celtic fans are unfamiliar with though. The revolving door never stops at Parkhead.

Unsurprisingly, fans have started drawing up dream targets to replace Postecoglou. And it looks like Graham Potter is the favourite in a lot of people’s eyes. It is a move that Celtic should stay away from.

Potter would be a glamourous name to bring in for sure. Not too long ago, he was widely considered as the best English manager in the game and was managing Chelsea.

But we cannot overlook how it went for him at Chelsea. Potter looked completely out of place and did not impress in any aspect of management. It was no surprise when he was shown the exit door before the season was even over. In fact, most Blues fans would claim that it came way too late to salvage their campaign.

Most of his good reputation was built up for the job that he did at Brighton & Hove Albion. And while nobody can question the quality of players he brought in, the fact of the matter is that they never finished higher than 9th. On the other hand, Roberto De Zerbi has come in and the Seagulls have looked better.

Simply put, Potter has not proven himself in a high pressure job. On the contrary, he has shown signs that he might not be made for them, with his disastrous spell with Chelsea. At Celtic Park, he would be expected to win every domestic game. There is no doubt that he is a solid manager, but it might not be the right fit.
