Celtic are set to take to the Hampden Park pitch to face Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the final of the Scottish Cup. It is also a chance for them to win a historic treble. And yet, the build up to the match has been completely clouded by the speculation around the future of Ange Postecoglou, as he continues to be linked with the Tottenham Hotspur job.
Tottenham Hotspur are rumoured to have made Postecoglou the leading candidate to be the next manager of the club. And they look set to open talks with the Australian, after the Scottish Cup final.
Of course, such rumours have left Celtic fans very worried. They want to see Postecoglou remain at Parkhead. But the Tottenham Hotspur job could be attractive enough to tempt him away from Glasgow.
Postecoglou has not ruled himself out of the running for the Tottenham Hotspur job publicly although he has insisted that his full focus is on the Scottish Cup final time after time. As reported by The Scottish Sun, the Celtic manager said:
"“You are not in my skin, you don’t live and breath this job that I have and what Saturday means to me, these players, this football club.“There is nothing more important – nothing, apart from my family obviously – than that game.”"
Celtic boss sends clear message amid Tottenham Hotspur rumours
Celtic cannot afford to take their eyes off the ball, amidst all the rumours and speculation about Postecoglou’s future. They will be the favourites going into the Scottish Cup final but it would be a mistake to write Inverness CT off. They have earned their way to be at this stage.
After that game, we can start thinking about Postecoglou and his future. It might be just a matter of the Australian waiting to see what is not the table and not ruling anything out before that.
One would hope that Postecoglou is the man in the Parkhead hot seat. If he is not then the club will need to look for a new manager. That’s just football.
