Celtic fans will be hoping that Ange Postecoglou remains the manager of the club as long as possible. He has done a wonderful job at Parkhead till now, transforming the team completely and his side will challenge for their fifth trophy in two seasons this weekend, when they take on Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Cup final.
At the same time though, one cannot overlook the fact that the rumours linking Postecoglou to Tottenham Hotspur are steadily gaining momentum. He is believed to the Premier League club’s number one target and it is rumoured that talks will be held after the Scottish Cup final.
If Postecoglou did indeed leave, then Celtic will have a tough time replacing him. After all, the majority of this squad has been assembled under his watchful eye.
Thus, the club might need to bring in someone with experience in the scenario that Postecoglou leaves. And David Moyes has recently been linked with the Parkhead job.
Moyes sends clear message about Celtic links
Moyes is currently the West Ham United manager and is preparing for the UEFA Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina. As reported by the Daily Record, when asked about the links to Celtic, he said:
"“I’ve never even considered it. I’m West Ham manager and I’m really enjoying my period here. The club have been so good to me and we’re enjoying the journey we’re on here. I’m hopefully trying to continue growing a really good football club so I’ve not given it any consideration. Through my years, I’ve been linked with lots of jobs at different times, but I have to say I’m really happy at the moment settled where I am.”"
Moyes has had a superb coaching career that has seen him manage some huge teams over the years. It is also worth pointing out that he did begin his playing career at Celtic so there is that connection there already. Would he be the right man for the Parkhead job though?
The Celtic job comes with the expectation of always winning. Moyes does not have a great track record of delivering silverware though. He has not won a major trophy in his career till now. Of course, he could change that by winning the UEFA Europa Conference League with West Ham United this season.
