Celtic fans have been left incredibly worried over the last several days. Rumours have emerged that Ange Postecoglou is Tottenham Hotspur’s number one target to be the next manager of the club. That is the last thing that the Hoops needed in the week leading up to the Scottish Cup final against Inverness CT. Despite them possibly winning a treble this weekend, a cloud of uncertainty hangs over the club.
Of course, Celtic fans will want Postecoglou to stay for as long as possible. The job that he has done since arriving in the summer of 2021 is remarkable to say the very least.
When Postecoglou arrived, Celtic were coming off of a trophyless campaign and had finished 25 points behind the Rangers in the league as well. Thus, the expectation was that it would take them two to three years just to get back to challenging.
Instead, they won a double that very season and are now on the verge of a treble this time around. That kind of success seems to have drawn the attention of teams like Tottenham Hotspur. Now, let’s see what the future holds for Postecoglou.
Fabrizio Romano’s Luis Enrique news is superb for Celtic
As reported by The Boot Room, Fabrizio Romano said while speaking on the Here We Go Podcast:
"“I would keep an eye on Luis Enrique until the end, he has been in talks with Napoli, but he told Napoli that he is attracted by a Premier League option, so I feel that Luis Enrique is waiting for Tottenham now.”"
Of course, when it comes to profile, there is no doubt that Enrique has a much bigger one than Postecoglou. He has won a treble with FC Barcelona in the past and was the Spanish national team’s manager before this as well.
Thus, Enrique would be a big name appointment who would get Tottenham Hotspur fans excited. And despite of Postecoglou’s unquestionable brilliance, if he was appointment, he would arrive amidst questions about his credentials for the job. Of course, that was the case when he joined Celtic as well and that did not stop him from being an incredible success.
