Celtic are heading for the Scottish Cup final against Inverness Caledonian Thistle. Winning it would not only secure more silverware for the Hoops but complete the domestic treble as well. Thus, it goes without saying that a lot is riding on this match. And yet, the build up to the game seems to have taken a backseat to the speculation regarding Ange Postecoglou, as he is being heavily linked with the Tottenham Hotspur job.

There have been suggestions that Tottenham Hotspur have made Postecoglou their number one managerial target. Of course, that will be a worry to Celtic fans.

They will surely want to see Postecoglou remain at Celtic Park for as long as possible. The Australian has done a remarkable job since joining the club, and will be vying for his fifth trophy in two seasons this weekend.

Of course, that kind of success seems to have caught the eye of Tottenham Hotspur. And Harry Redknapp seems to be onboard with the idea of the club appointing Postecoglou even though a large portion of their support has been less than pleased with the rumours.

Celtic fans won’t be happy with Redknapp’s comments

As reported by Football Scotland, Redknapp said on BBC Scotland:

"“I said to a few people I thought he would be a frontrunner. If I was looking for somebody, if I was the chairman of Tottenham he would be right at the top of my list so it doesn’t surprise me.“I’m sure it’d be a big blow to the Celtic fans to lose him. But I don’t know, he’s leaving a great club in Celtic but maybe the Premier League, the contract, the wages and what goes with it might be hard for him to turn it down if he does get offered.“I actually met Tim Cahill a few years back. I managed the Jordan national team for two games and we played Australia and Tim Cahill came up and had a chat with me before the game and said to me ‘our manager is excellent, he’s different class Harry, he’s brilliant’.“That stuck with me. It was interesting, he’s played for a lot of top clubs, been a top player for so many years and played under loads of great managers and he’s telling me about a guy I’ve never heard of from Australia so I was quite shocked. But it stuck in my mind and I’ve followed his career and I think Tim was right, he is excellent.”"

All we can do right now is wait and see how the Postecoglou saga plays out. This is not the first time that the Australian has been linked with a move to the Premier League. But on all the previous occasions, he has remained at Parkhead. The fans will be hoping that that is the case this time around as well.

There are a lot of drawbacks to the Tottenham Hotspur job as well, even though they are considered as part of Premier League’s traditional Big Six. The club have won just a single trophy in this century and we all know how things have turned out for managers there in recent times, even legendary ones like Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte.
