Sky Sports confirm rumours in major blow for Celtic

Celtic are heading towards one of the most important matches of their campaign, as they will be facing Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Cup final this weekend. But one could argue that the media focus has not been on that game over the past several days. Instead, the headlines have been dominated by Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham Hotspur’s rumoured interest in the Australian manager.

Postecoglou has done a remarkable job since taking up the Celtic job in the summer of 2021. He arrived with very low expectations but finds himself on the verge of a treble this season. In the previous campaign, his side had won a Premiership and League Cup double.

That kind of success seems to have caught the eye of Tottenham Hotspur, who have not won a trophy in over a decade. And worryingly for Celtic, the rumours are starting to pick up pace as we head towards the summer.

That is the last thing that Celtic need at the moment. Now the question is, could the Tottenham Hotspur job tempt Postecoglou away from Parkhead?

To be very honest, it is very possible that it could. Tottenham Hotspur are one of the traditional big six in the Premier League. And at 57 years of age, Postecoglou does not have a lot of time left in his career, if he wants to manage at that level.

Of course, there are many cons to the Tottenham Hotspur job as well. Legendary managers like Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho have failed there. And no matter how good Postecoglou is, his name does not hold that kind of weight.
