Celtic are heading towards a very important summer. Most of the speculation has been about potential exits, whether that be Ange Postecoglou or several of their key players. Let’s see how things play out. But with the league to defend and another Champions League campaign coming up, the Hoops must find a way to strengthen.

Ardon Jashari is a 20-year-old midfielder currently playing for Swiss club FC Luzern. He has two caps for the Switzerland national team as well and although he didn’t feature much, he was part of their 2022 World Cup squad.

Jashari will be playing in the EURO U21 finals this summer. The tournament will being invaluable experience for him.

Postecoglou has not tended to play a specific defensive midfielder but there have been signs that he may consider this further, if the right option is available. The loan signing of Oliver Abildgaard  last summer did not quite work out and we saw Tomoki Iwata join in January. If the manager sees the role as important for the upcoming Champions League campaign, then Jashari could very well be the answer.

Celtic are rumoured to be the favourites to sign Jashari, if he was to make an exit from FC Luzern this summer. Other clubs are believed to be interested in signing him as well though. As reported by Glasgow Times, the player said about the speculation surrounding his future:

"“Right now I play for FC Luzern.“Then I am going on a short holiday until the Euros with the Under 21s. Then we will see what happens after that.“To move abroad is not so easy and I don’t want to commit myself to one particular country at the moment.“What I would say is if the project is right, then the league is not relevant.”"

One of the doubts we often see raised is whether the Scottish Premiership is an attractive destination for players. Of course, Celtic have top level European football to offer in addition.

Postecoglou likes to get his new signings completed quickly, but may have to wait until after the EURO U21 finals being played from June 21 to July 8. That would still be relatively early in terms of preparations for next season, with no Champions League qualifiers to play.
