One area where Celtic have thrived during the time of Ange Postecoglou as manager has been their recruitment from the J League. The Australian was at Yokohama F. Marinos before making the move to Parkhead and he has used his knowledge to great effect, bringing in a number of players who have proven to be difference makers for the Hoops.

Kyogo Furuhashi, Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda are nailed on starters and have done a tremendous job for Celtic till now. On the other hand, while Tomoki Iwata and Yuki Kobayashi might not have settled in yet, they have shown flashes of quality as well.

The only signing from the J League that has not worked out till now was that of Yosuke Ideguchi. He currently finds himself out on loan, back in Japan.

As a result, it should come as a surprise that Celtic continue to be linked with players from the J League. And the latest one that have been linked with is Ryotaro Ito.

Celtic given boost in race to sign Japanese magician

Ito is considered one of the brightest talents in the J League right now. And it looks like Celtic have been handed a bit of a boost in the race to sign him.

As reported by Yahoo Japan (via HITC), a move to Europe is in ‘full swing’. Ito’s agent held talks with the Osaka-born magician following his side’s recent game with Gamba Osaka.

Ito is enjoying a superb season right now and it looks like he has all the tools required to be a success at Celtic. Considering the eye for talent that Postecoglou and company have shown, most fans would back him to do well, if the Japanese attacking midfielder did arrive in Glasgow this summer. Now, it remains to be seen if a transfer move transpires or not.
