Celtic won the Premiership title for the second time on the trot and are now on the brink of completing a domestic treble, should they accomplish a victory against Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Cup final next weekend. Fans will be hoping that Ange Postecoglou’s are able to make one last push and get the job done.

On paper, Celtic started the season as favourites to retain the Premiership. However, the Rangers’ underperformance, followed by a change in management, handed Postecoglou’s side a rather comfortable route to the league title.

Amid the celebrations and a potential treble up for grabs, there was a discussion on whether Callum McGregor should be considered a Celtic legend. The captain has played an integral role in making the Hoops the champions of Scotland once again.

As reported by the Daily Record, during coverage on Sky Sports, Eilidh Barbour asked the panel whether McGregor can be considered a Celtic legend and Martin O’Neill responded with “well, he’s won 19 trophies,” to the question.

Almost two decades ago, McGregor joined the Celtic Academy. He was promoted to the senior team following a loan spell with a string of impressive performances at Notts County in England. The current captain made his first-team debut in 2014 and has gone on to win 19 major trophies for his boyhood club since then.

McGregor has a contract set to expire in the summer of 2026. And his trophy count will reach 20 if he manages to lead the Glasgow side to another victory next weekend.

At 29 years of age, and considering his fitness levels, McGregor should have quite a bit left in the tank as well. Thus, the Celtic captain could be going for plenty of all-time records in the future. But at the moment, the focus has to be on the Scottish Cup final against Inverness Caledonian Thistle.
