Celtic appear to be interested in adding to their options up top in the summer. This season, one of the reasons that they failed to get a single win in the Champions League was because of their inability to finish their chances against Europe’s elite. As a result, the club will not be hurt if they have another striker.
Celtic have a brilliant player in their ranks in the form of Kyogo, who has found the back of the net 33 times this season and is one of the best that they have had in a while. On the other hand, they also have Oh Hyeon-gyu, who is starting to come into his own and scoring goals consistently now.
Those are their only two options at striker though. And with a long season coming up, they need another option going forward.
As reported by Football Scotland, Celtic are considering making a bid for NK Maribor striker Zan Vipotnik. The 21-year-old is on a list of targets and their interest has been registered with his agent. But things are at an early stage and a move would take the Hoops a transfer fee around £3.5 million.
Celtic consider making transfer bid for 23-goal striker
Vipotnik is a man in form at the moment and has been scoring consistently for NK Maribor this season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has 23 goals in 38 appearances in this campaign.
Also at 21 years of age, Vipotnik has a lot of room and time to get better. Thus, someone like him could be a solid addition for the Hoops.
At the same time though, Celtic must be careful before making a move. A £3.5 million transfer fee would be significant for the club and as a result, they must be completely certain that Vipotnik is a player who would strengthen the squad next season.
