Celtic have enjoyed a great season but it is not over yet. They still have the Scottish Cup final to play. After that, the focus will turn towards strengthening the squad though, as the Hoops gear up for another Champions League campaign. Of course, there is a lot to be worried about heading into the summer as well. Ange Postecoglou as well as several key players are being linked with moves away from Parkhead.

While it is important that Celtic keep hold of their best performers, one player is set to make a return to Parkhead this summer. It is none other than Albian Ajeti.

After two unimpressive seasons at Parkhead, Ajeti was sent out on loan in the summer to Austrian side, Sturm Graz. But he failed to perform up to expectations there either and now, it has been confirmed that he will be making a return to Celtic Park at the end of the campaign.

As reported by Football Scotland, Sturm Graz’s director Andreas Schicker said:

"“The option to buy Albian Ajeti will not be exercised."

Ajeti was Celtic’s marquee signing in the summer of 2020, brought in from West Ham United for a £5 million transfer fee. But it is quite clear that the move did not work out.

He made a bright start to life at Celtic Park but soon started to struggle to find the back of the net and would soon not much playing time either. And it will be interesting to see what the future holds for him, now that a loan move has not worked out for him either.

One would not expect to see him get much playing time in Postecoglou’s team. As a result, it would not be a surprise to see him leave the club for good in the summer although one has to wonder how much interest there would be in his signature.
