Celtic player declares he wants to stay despite exit rumours
Trophy Day has come and gone, but the season is not over for Celtic just yet. Next weekend, they will take to the Hampden Park pitch to face Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the final of the Scottish Cup. It also presents the Hoops to complete a historic treble, having already clinched the Premiership and League Cup.
Some of the focus might already be shifting towards the summer though. And a lot has been made of potential exits lately.
The headlines have been dominated by Tottenham Hotspur’s rumoured interest in making Ange Postecoglou their next manager. Other players have been linked with moves away as well though. One of them is Kyogo Furuhashi.
Kyogo has been sensational this season and scored a brace against Aberdeen, before being taken off with a knock. Those goals took his tally up to 33 for the season and it goes without saying that the Japanese forward is vital to this Celtic team. Thus, fans will be hoping that he remains at Parkhead for the foreseeable future despite the exit rumours and there is some great news regarding that.
Celtic player declares he wants to stay despite exit rumours
As reported by the Daily Record, when asked if he’d like to stay at Celtic beyond 2025, Kyogo said:
"“Definitely. All the players here want to stay at Celtic for as long as they can and I’m one of them. At the same time, I cannot think too much about the future right now. You have to focus on a daily basis on the training pitch. But hopefully I can stay here and give everything I have.”"
Those words will be music to the ears of Celtic fans. Despite being linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer, it looks like Kyogo is planning to stay at Parkhead. Of course, things can change quickly in football but his comments are reassuring.
Hopefully, most of Celtic’s best players and Postecoglou remain at Parkhead beyond this season. They’ll be back in the Champions League group stages in the upcoming campaign. For now, the focus has to be on next weekend though, with a Scottish Cup and a treble still up for grabs.
