Celtic capped off their campaign in style with a 5-0 win over Aberdeen. Kyogo and Oh Hyeon-gyu got themselves a brace each while Carl Starfelt scored a goal as well. But it was not all rosy for Ange Postecoglou’s side on Trophy Day either, as they were handed multiple injury problems on the day.

One of the players who appeared to pick up an injury on the day was Kyogo. He was forced off the pitch early in the second half against Aberdeen and was seen hobbling in the post-match celebrations as well.

That would have left Celtic fans worried with the Scottish Cup final next weekend. And they have been handed another worrying update about the situation of Kyogo.

As reported by The Scottish Sun, Kyogo wasn’t fit enough to pick up his Scottish Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year award at a gala dinner in Glasgow, as the SFWA said:

"“Unfortunately, on the advice of Celtic’s medical staff, the SFWA Player of the Year Kyogo Furuhashi is now unable to attend the awards dinner after sustaining an injury.“Kyogo and Celtic have relayed their sincere apologies.”"

Celtic handed worrying Kyogo injury update

Kyogo’s brace against Aberdeen saw him take his goal tally for the season up to 33. Thus, he is Celtic’s biggest source of goals at the moment and if he ends up missing the Scottish Cup final against Inverness CT then it would come as a major blow for the club.

Postecoglou did provide a hopeful update on the situation of Kyogo after the game against Aberdeen. Thus, fans will be hoping that him missing the award ceremony is precautionary.

If Kyogo does end up missing the final or is not fit enough to start, then they do have another in-form striker in the form of Oh Hyeon-gyu. The South Korean striker arrived at Celtic earlier this year and has been mostly used as an impact substitute, but that has not stopped him from getting goals, as he has scored seven times for the Hoops already.
