Kyogo showed what he is capable once again, as he scored a first-half brace against Aberdeen. It ultimately led to a 5-0 win for Celtic. But the fans were handed a major worry as well though. The Japanese forward was forced off the pitch soon after the break, as he appeared to pick up an injury. He was visibly limping while going off the pitch and while being presented his medal after the game as well.

That could be a problem for Celtic for sure. Kyogo is arguably their most important player and most definitely the best goalscorer at the club right now.

Thus, they will want to have him starting against Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the Scottish Cup final next weekend. As a result, his injury appeared to come at the worst possible time.

Kyogo did take part in the title celebrations after the game though, which is a positive. And after that, Ange Postecoglou provided a hopeful update on the Japanese superstar’s situation as well.

Celtic boss offers vital Kyogo injury news

As reported by the Daily Record, Postecoglou said about Kyogo’s situation:

"“I don’t think it’s anything serious with Kyogo. I’ve spoken to the medical guys and we’ll see how it settles down. But at this stage, with it being a cup final – listen, he’s played in one on one leg (2021 League Cup Final v Hibs) so unless both his legs are out I reckon there’s a chance he’ll play.”"

That will be music to the ears of Celtic fans. Of course, the game that Postecoglou refers to is last season’s League Cup final against Hibernian.

Kyogo had been injured in the lead up to the game and it had looked likely that he was going to miss out. He played on the day though, despite clearly not being fully fit. And not only did he play but he scored a match-winning brace as well to clinch the club’s first trophy under the management of Postecoglou.

Celtic fans will be hoping to see Kyogo on the Hampden Park pitch next weekend. But even if he is not able to start, Oh Hyeon-gyu’s brace against Aberdeen will give them hope that they have another in-form striker in the squad right now.
