This summer is going to be very interesting for Celtic. The club have dominated Scottish football this season and are still in with a chance of clinching a historic treble. But they will know the importance of continuing to improve their squad. That is something that they have done throughout the time of Ange Postecoglou as their manager. At the same time they will surely want to produce better results in Europe as well.

Thus, expect to see both incomings and outgoings at Parkhead. At the same, one has to keep an eye on some of Celtic’s former players as well.

Jeremie Frimpong appears to fall under that category. The Dutchman has continued to impress since leaving Celtic for Bayer Leverkusen in early 2021. And now, he is being linked with some of the biggest clubs in the world, with a summer move looking likely.

Frimpong is believed to be in talks with Manchester United over a transfer this summer. As reported by BILD (via Football Scotland), the Bayer Leverkusen star is in “advanced” negotiations with the club and appears to be keen on making the move back to England.

Celtic are believed to have a sell-on clause in the deal for Frimpong. He joined Bayer Leverkusen for a transfer fee believed to be around £11.5 million.

But considering his performances in the Bundesliga, his age and the calibre of the clubs being linked with him, it would be no surprise if it takes a transfer fee north of £40 million to convince Bayer Leverkusen to let Frimpong go. That would land Celtic a nice sell-on fee.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Frimpong. But at the moment, Manchester United are looking like his most likely destination, if he does leave Bayer Leverkusen in the summer.
