With Trophy Day coming and a final match to play, a Scottish Cup final next week and of course a whole new season, including Champions League group stage football to plan for, there’s a lot for Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou to be focussing on currently. Amidst all this, rumours have emerged about him being Tottenham Hotspur’s top managerial target.

Celtic fans might be concerned about the ongoing speculation linking the manager with the Tottenham Hotspur job. It could be a distraction or even worse, turn into a reality.

Postecoglou has put the fans’ minds to rest to some extent anyway with his recent comments, when asked about the Tottenham Hotspur rumours.

As reported by Sky Sports, Postecoglou said about the matter:

"“I’ve been asked about these things plenty of times, what’s important for me is the here and now. I’ve never planned anything in my football career.“My ambitions right now are to enjoy tomorrow [Saturday], have a good game and then try and win a cup final and make it a special season.“It’s not every year you get the opportunity to win a treble and if anyone thinks I’m thinking anything other than that they don’t know me.”"

Celtic’s upcoming two matches include the title celebrations at Parkhead on Saturday when Postecoglou’s team will collect their second trophy of the season after playing Aberdeen in the final league match of the campaign. And then they have the Scottish Cup final against Inverness CT a week later and the chance to win another history-making treble.

There does not seem to be any danger of Postecoglou being distracted for the next two matches. And with a run of poor league results in recent weeks, the fans will be hoping that the players are fully focussed in delivering the treble too.

The speculation will of course continue and if Postecoglou claims a treble with Celtic it will likely increase further over the following weeks.

At the title celebrations last season he told the fans to expect the team to be back bigger and better. Let’s hope he gives a similar resounding message on Saturday. In a short span of time, he has become integral to the club and the supporters won’t want to see Postecoglou leave anytime soon.
