Celtic are heading towards a very important summer transfer window. If there is one thing that has become clear over the past few weeks, it is that the club need more depth. We have seen a bit of a collapse, in the absence of a few key players. One could argue that they have had nothing to play for. Still, one win in five league games is not the kind of run you would expect from the Hoops.
On the other hand, there could be a few players heading out of the exit door as well. And the fans will also have an eye on a few of their former stars.
One of them is Kieran Tierney. The Scottish international finds himself in a tough situation at Arsenal, and has clearly slipped down Mikel Arteta’s pecking order this season. As a result, he is expected to depart in the summer.
St James’ Park could be his next destination. And there is a positive update regarding that. As reported by i, James Maddison and Tierney are near the top of Newcastle United‘s list of transfer targets to reinforce their squad.
Newcastle United update is superb news for Celtic
Tierney left Celtic in the summer of 2019 in order to join Arsenal in a £25 million move, a Scottish record that stands to this day. And the Hoops are believed to have a sell-on clause in his deal as well.
That means that they could be handed a boost in the summer, if Tierney leaves Arsenal. And rumours have suggested that the club value him at a transfer fee around £30 million or more.
It remains to be seen if a move ends up happening or not. At this point of time, all signs point towards Tierney leaving Arsenal though. Will the Scottish left-back end up at Newcastle United?
