Celtic’s form before the Scottish Cup final has been a cause for worry. They have not won a single game since clinching the Premiership title away at Tynecastle Park against Hearts. Also, in their previous five league games, they have tasted victory just once. That is not the kind of run that Ange Postecoglou would have wanted his side to be on, before taking on Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Hampden Park next month.
There is just one league game left, at home against Aberdeen. Hopefully, the Hoops will win that one and build up some momentum before the final.
Form is not the only worry for Celtic before the Hampden Park showdown though, fitness is as well. Of course, Cameron Carter-Vickers won’t be available after undergoing surgery. Alistair Johnston has only returned to training recently as well. Aaron Mooy has been dealing with niggles as well. And now, they have another issue.
Sead Haksabanovic had to be subbed within 22 minutes, in the game against Hibernian. It appeared to be a muscular issue and with the final less than two weeks away, it is a cause for worry.
Celtic player might miss Scottish Cup final after new injury
As reported by Glasgow Live, Postecoglou said about Haksabanovic’s injury situation:
"“I’ll wait and see what the medical team say but with the cup final is 10 days away and it could be tough for him.”"
There is no doubt about the quality of Haksabanovic. And even though he has not been a nailed on starter for Celtic this season, he is a great option to have.
Of course, if everybody is fit then one would expect Postecoglou to start with the forward line of Jota, Kyogo and Daizen Maeda in the Scottish Cup final. Let’s just hope that the Hoops have most of their players available on the day and bring home the treble. Before that, they need to get through the upcoming league finale against Aberdeen.
