Celtic player set to hold talks over Parkhead future
Celtic have a stacked squad at this point of time, with options all over the pitch. The picture is very different from when Ange Postecoglou arrived at the club and was having to play people out of position just to put out a starting XI. Of course, their depth has been one of the biggest reasons behind the success that they have enjoyed on the pitch.
On the other hand, it also means though that there have been quite a few players who have struggled for playing time. And a few have also been sent out on loan in search of playing time.
One player who falls under that category is Liam Scales. The defender was brought in from Shamrock Rovers and made a few appearances for Celtic in his first season at the club. But he was never able to establish himself in the first-team.
As a result, it came as no surprise when he was sent out on loan to Aberdeen last summer. And he has done a wonderful job with the Dons since then, establishing himself as a starter. That has raised questions about his future at Parkhead though.

As reported by the Daily Record, Scales said:
"“I will report back to Celtic in the summer for pre-season, that is what I am assuming will happen. I will need to go back there and discuss what plans they have for me.“I am looking forward to taking a break in the summer and I don’t think I’ll be worrying too much about what the future holds when I’m off. I have really enjoyed it up here, I love playing here – it has been brilliant for me.“But I can’t decide now what’s going to happen because I don’t know what’s going on between the clubs. I don’t know what Celtic have planned for me so there’s no point jumping ahead.”"
It looks like Scales is set to discuss his future at Celtic in the summer. For now, the focus has to remain on the ongoing campaign though.
Celtic still have a treble up for grabs as they will take on Inverness CT in the Scottish Cup final next month. On the other hand, Aberdeen will be looking to finish the campaign strong and finish in third in the Premiership.
After that, there will be time to discuss the future of Scales at Parkhead. And with how impressive he has been, there might be a role for him next season.
