Celtic cannot make the mistake of looking past the remaining games this season. They still have the Scottish Cup final to play, with the treble up for grabs. And while the match will be against Championship opposition in the form of Inverness Caledonian Thistle, the Hoops must approach the game in the same manner that they have done every big one.
On the other hand, there is a lot to be excited about when it comes to the upcoming season as well. They will be in the Champions League group stage once again, having retained their Premiership title.
Celtic were in the Champions League group stage this time around as well. And although they put in some encouraging performances, they were not able to convert them into positive results and finished bottom. It looks like they might be looking for some inspiration from Manchester City moving forward.
As reported by The Scottish Sun, John Kennedy said regarding the matter:
"“Man City were sensational in midweek. They have the resources to bring in a higher level of player.“We have to try to maximise what we can do and you can’t put a ceiling on that.“We’ve earned the right to play in the Champions League and then you want to test yourself against the best.“Man City are a terrific team. From a coaching perspective they’re very inspiring.“Everyone looking at them can see the level of performance they are putting in. But, again, they’ve taken time to get to that level. They’re playing in a different league to us at a different level.“But in terms of getting to that point, Pep Guardiola has had to spend time with that squad to get them to where they look a very special team.“Certainly, Ange will do his own version of that here.“We didn’t get the results this season, but there were signs in our performances when we showed we can go toe-to-toe with the big guys for periods in games.“We have to take belief from that, but we have to work very hard to try to maximise what we get.“The manager is very good at getting everything out of the players and making them go 100 per cent every day.“That’s something he’s really good at driving home. He won’t let up on them.“He won’t let them be comfortable. He’ll squeeze every last drop from them if he can.”"
Celtic coach makes interesting Manchester City claim
Manchester City have been one of the best teams in Premier League history under the management of Pep Guardiola. And they are just one step away from winning the Champions League this time around, as they will meet Inter Milan in the final. It is safe to say that the Light Blues are heavy favourites.
Ange Postecoglou’s sides have been compared to that of Guardiola for a long time now. And it remains to be seen if they can improve their results in the Champions League next season.
Celtic have done remarkable job regardless of their recent shortcomings in European competitions. They won the double last season and are looking to win a historic treble this time around. On the other hand, Manchester City are looking to win a treble of their own as well.
