Kieran Tierney is one of the best players to have come through the Celtic youth ranks in recent years. He would establish himself as a start at Parkhead before leaving in the summer of 2019 to join Arsenal in a Scottish record £25 million move. He has had an up and down time in London since then though.
At the moment, he finds himself out of the starting XI at Arsenal. And there have been heavy rumours that Tierney could leave the club in the summer transfer window.
Clubs like Newcastle United and Aston Villa have been linked with Tierney, with rumours suggesting that Arsenal rate him at a transfer fee north of £30 million. Celtic are believed to have a sell-on fee in his deal. So such a move would be great for them. But unfortunately, the latest news surrounding the Scottish international is not good news for the Hoops.
As reported by FootballTransfers, Arsenal and Manchester City are in talks over a potential exchange deal that would see Tierney and Joao Cancelo swap clubs in the summer.
Tierney to Manchester City transfer rumour is bad news for Celtic
Tierney has not played much football this season and he has only started just six times in the Premier League in the ongoing campaign till now. Thus, it is not hard to understand why him leaving Arsenal would make sense.
And Manchester City could be a good landing spot for him as well. But if is done through a swap deal, that sees Cancelo head in the opposite direction, then that would be a blow for Celtic.
Let’s see what the future holds for Tierney. But Celtic fans will surely be hoping that he leaves Arsenal for a transfer fee rather than in a swap deal. There should not be any lack of interest in the Scottish defender’s signature.
