Celtic have built up an immense squad over the course of the past four transfers and they have reaped the benefits of that on the pitch, winning a double last season and they are in the running for the treble this time around. At the same time though, the Hoops are not expected to stand still and will hopefully strengthen further in the summer.
One area where the club might need to strengthen is striker. They have a brilliant one in the form of Kyogo Furuhashi, who has crossed the 30-goal mark this season.
Oh Hyeon-gyu is the cover up front. And it remains to be seen if the South Korean striker is able to meet expectations. He has shown flashes of brilliance but at the same time, it is clear that there is a lot of room for improvement.
One player who has been linked with Celtic in recent times is Levi Garcia. The Trinidad and Tobago striker currently plays for AEK Athens and is enjoying a great campaign. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 18 goals and provided 7 assists in 36 appearances.
Striker gives brilliant reaction to Celtic transfer rumour
As reported by the Daily Record, when asked about speculation linking him with the likes of Celtic this summer by Newsday, Garcia said:
"“I just try my best to pay it no mind, almost, but as much as you want to block it out, sometimes when you hear the types of clubs that are interested in you, you’re like ‘What!?’.“But you have to block it off and continue to stay focused on the goals and tasks at hand. Whatever happens in the future, according to how things go, we will see.”"
Someone like Garcia could be an excellent addition to this Celtic team. But at this time, there is believed to be plenty of interest in his signature and it will be difficult for the Hoops to get a deal done for him.
Celtic could do with another striker next season. Especially as they have a Champions League group stage campaign coming up. Their missed chances was one of the reasons behind their European failure in this campaign, even though they put in some top performances in the competition.
