Celtic have done a wonderful job when it comes to identifying and signing players over the course of the past four transfer windows. That has been one of the biggest reasons behind the somewhat unexpected and historical success that they have enjoyed under the manager of Ange Postecoglou.
This summer transfer window could be interesting though. Considering how good some of Celtic’s players have been in recent times, it is no surprise that they have been linked with moves away from the club.
One such player is Matt O’Riley. The midfielder arrived at Celtic Park in January of last year and has been tremendous since then.
It is hard to think that the club signed him from MK Dons for a transfer fee believed to be around £1.5 million. They could expect a figure ten times of that, if they do let O’Riley leave in the near future. There is no lack of interest in the youngster, especially from clubs down south.
Crystal Palace interested in signing Celtic midfielder
As reported by Football Insider, Crystal Palace are keeping close tabs on O’Riley. The Eagles are among the Premier League sides looking to sign the Dane.
Considering the amount and quality of interest that appears to be there in the signature of O’Riley, Celtic might have a tough time keeping him at Parkhead for much longer. At the same time, the Dane is a very smart player and will know that this is the best place for him to continue his development and get even better.
He has been a regular for Celtic throughout the course of the campaign, even though he had a short spell out of the starting XI. He is rumoured to be on the verge of a senior call up to the Denmark national team. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 48 appearances this season, scoring 4 goals and providing 12 assists in the process.
