Celtic suffered a 3-0 defeat away at Ibrox against the Rangers. Considering how dominant the Hoops have been in Glasgow Derbies in recent times, not many would seen this result coming. But on the day, Ange Postecoglou’s side were nowhere near their best. The fact that the league was already in the bag and they were missing a number of starters, contributed to the defeat as well.
On the other hand, Celtic have been handed a transfer blow as well. One of the players that they have been recently linked with has signed a contract extension with his current club.
Diego Valoyes is someone that Celtic are rumoured to be keeping an eye on. And it has not taken his club, Talleres, long to agree a contract extension with the Colombian international.
As reported on Talleres’ official website, an improvement and extension has been made in the professional contract until 2025 of Valoyes.
Celtic handed blow by club’s contract announcement
Of course, it is still possible for Celtic to sign Valoyes. But it will certainly give Talleres the chance to look for a bigger transfer fee to part ways with their star player.
Valoyes is viewed as one of the best wingers playing in Argentina right now. And it is interesting that Celtic have been linked with him, while rumours suggest that Liel Abada could be headed for the exit door.
Valoyes certainly looks like an exciting talent who has a lot of attributes that will fit in Postecoglou’s system very well. Now, it remains to be seen if the Hoops make a move for him in the summer or not.
Valoyes is fast, trickery, has the ability to get past his defender and the penchant for a moment of magic as well. Exactly the type of winger you would expect to see in Postecoglou’s team.
