Todd Cantwell makes bizarre claim about Reo Hatate incident vs Celtic
Todd Cantwell might have only been with the Rangers for a few months till now, but he has already done enough to remain unpopular amongst Celtic fans for the rest of his career and beyond. Unfortunately for the Ibrox side, his biggest headline-grabbing moments have not come due to footballing reasons.
Cantwell has made some controversial claims in the media since his arrival at Ibrox. And the incident involving Reo Hatate in the last Glasgow Derby did not earn him any popularity points amongst Celtic supporters either.
With one of the Rangers’ players down and receiving treatment, Hatate tried to grab a bottle from their physio bag. But in an unexpected turn of events, Cantwell grabbed it and put it out of the Japanese midfielder’s reach.
Unsurprisingly, a large part of social media was not happy with Cantwell’s actions on the day. But he does not seem to have any plans of apologising for the incident.

As reported by The Herald, Cantwell said about his actions:
"“Listen, I feel like you can’t really breathe wrongly up here and it makes the media,” Cantwell said. “The way I look at it, if we had a player down or they had a player down and the physio had come on and I had gone over to McGregor and asked for a drink of water, I can imagine what he would have said to me. I think I was quite polite to be honest.”"
It will be interesting to see how Cantwell does when the Rangers meet Celtic at Ibrox at the weekend. In terms of silverware, there is nothing left to play for in this game. But then, every Glasgow Derby is very important in its own right now.
Thus, the fans will be hoping that the Bhoys take their A-game to Ibrox at the weekend. If they can win or draw this game then they will go an entire season without losing at the hands of the Rangers.
That will only add to the pressure for the Rangers. As for Cantwell, he will have a lot to prove as well. Let’s see how things turn out at Ibrox this weekend. This game is more important for Beale’s side than it is to Celtic though.
