Celtic have clinched the Premiership title this season, with four league games still to go. The League Cup is already in the bag as well, meaning that when the team take to the Hampden Park pitch next month against Inverness Caledonian Thistle, they will have the chance to win their fifth treble of the past seven seasons.
Unsurprisingly, there have been celebrations amongst the fans. There is more to come this season though and a lot to look forward to in the summer as well.
As reported by the club’s official website, Yokohama F. Marinos will be the first opposition for the Hoops as part of the Celtic FC Japan Tour 2023 in July of this year. They will face the J League side at Nissan Stadium on July 19.
Of course, this will be a reunion for Ange Postecoglou. He was the manager of Yokohama F. Marinos for several years before arriving at Celtic in the summer of 2021.
Celtic make match announcement amid title celebrations
Celtic taking on Yokohama F. Marinos is an exciting prospect for the fans for sure. They will have a chance to get a look at Postecoglou’s former side in action. They are the defending J League champions as well.
It should go a long way in capturing the imagination of the fans in Japan as well. Celtic have grown a lot in popularity in that part of the world over the past couple of years. As things stand, they have five Japanese players in their squad and one out on loan.
Of course, with it being part of their pre-season. The focus will be on getting ready for the upcoming season as well. Celtic will surely be looking to continue their success in domestic competitions while also trying to improve in Europe, which has been their only shortcoming during the time of Postecoglou as manager of the club.
