It has been a good couple of weeks for Celtic. They booked their place in the final of the Scottish Cup with a 1-0 win over the Rangers at Hampden Park. And then they secured the Premiership title with a 2-0 win against Hearts away at Tynecastle Park. Of course, their sights will now move towards a treble.
On the other hand, the Rangers are set to finish the campaign trophyless. And things are not looking nearly as rosy as they had in Michael Beale’s first few months as manager at Ibrox.
They have not won a single Glasgow Derby this season till now, losing four of them and drawing the other one. Beale’s side will get one last chance to get the better of Celtic in this campaign, when they welcome them to Ibrox next weekend.
Unfortunately for the Rangers, they were handed an injury blow just days before taking on Celtic. Ben Davies was forced off the pitch before half-time against Aberdeen. And as reported by Glasgow Live, Beale said about the situation:
"“I think it might a slight problem with his hamstring. We will assess it in the next 24 hours and see.”"
Rangers suffer another blow days before facing Celtic
Davies has been a regular starter for the Rangers this season. As a result, his injury right before the game against Celtic will certainly be a blow for Beale’s side.
Of course, Celtic will not be looking towards Ibrox. There will be a celebratory mood around Parkhead at this point of time but at the same time, they must be ready for the game against the Rangers next weekend as well.
Every Glasgow Derby is important in its own right, and if they can win or draw this one, they will go a full season undefeated against the Rangers. Thus, a lot will be riding on the result at Ibrox next weekend, even though the title race is already over.
