Celtic clinched the Premiership title with their win over Hearts at the weekend. Kyogo and Oh Hyeon-gyu were the two players on the scoresheet away at Tynecastle Park, as the Hoops got the job done with four league games to spare. Of course, their first game as champions of Scotland will be away at Ibrox against the Rangers.
You could not script stuff like this. Expect a lot to be made of a possible guard of honour in the media over the coming weeks, which is not expected to come.
Of course, there do not seem to be any lack of clubs who seem to be delighted with Celticβs triumph in the Premiership. And two of them are huge clubs from La Liga.
The likes of Athletic Bilbao and Real Betis sent congratulatory messages to the new champions of Scotland, following their win over Hearts. They tweeted out:
La Liga giants send message to Celtic after league win
It is great to see teams like Real Betis and Athletic Bilbao get involved in the title celebrations. Of course, the season is not over for Celtic just yet. Not even close. They have a number of records in their sights as well as a treble.
They will be facing Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the final of the Scottish Cup next month. If they can win that game then they will complete the treble. It would be their fifth in seven seasons, which would be a remarkable feat to say the least.
On the other hand, Celtic have the chance to outdo the Invincibles side in terms of points as well as goals. They still have four games left to be played in the league. And while the title race might be over, there is still quite a bit to play for when it comes to history.
