Celtic clinched a second straight league title with a 2-0 win over Hearts at the weekend. Goals from Kyogo Furuhashi and Oh Hyeon-gyu were enough to hand them the three points and crown them champions of Scotland. Of course, the season is not over for Ange Postecoglou’s side, whose next target will be to win the treble. They take on Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the final of the Scottish Cup next month.
Things look very different for the Rangers. Michael Beale’s side are set to finish the season trophyless and have not won a single game against Celtic in the ongoing campaign till now.
They will get one last chance to change that as they welcome Celtic to Ibrox next weekend for the final Glasgow Derby of the campaign. It is safe to say that it is an important game for the Rangers and Beale’s future at the club, even though the title race is over.
Incidentally, Celtic’s first game as the champions of Scotland will be away at Ibrox. Of course, they will not be expecting a guard of honour from their Glasgow rivals. An old tweet from Rangers captain, James Tavernier, is doing the rounds of social media though.
Tavernier’s old tweet about guard of honour goes viral as Celtic win league
In a tweet from 2016, Tavernier had praised Alloa Athletic for giving the Rangers a guard of honour and declared it as true sportsmanship:
Great respect to @AlloaAthleticFC for the guard of honour today!! 👏🏽👊🏽 True sportsmanship unlike some!! https://t.co/rSrvNqtAFi

It has been seven years since then. But it will be interesting to know the thoughts of the Rangers captain regarding a guard of honour, now that Celtic head to Ibrox as the Premiership champions.
Of course, it would not matter to Celtic if they get a guard of honour or not. The important thing for them has to be getting a win or a draw on their trip to Ibrox. If they can do that, it would mean that they would go a whole season undefeated against the Rangers.
